Wikipedia hit one million articles yesterday, and I was in the IRC channel when it happened. Someone posted a freenode-wide announcement about it (that’s how I knew), and there were well over 400 users in the channel at the moment the millionth article was posted. I’ve never seen so much IRC message spam before. 🙂 I saved a portion of the log in case anyone wants to see it. (warning: there’s a good bit of immature language in the post-event message spam) According to my log, the article count tipped over a million sometime during the three seconds between 18:14:37 and 18:14:40 EST. And yes, I’m in there: search for “arrow011” (for some reason I wasn’t logged in as “arrow014”, my usual IRC nick).
