Voting comments

This will be a quick post–I’m not afraid to get into heated politics here, but I just don’t feel like it right now. Anyway, two quick comments about today’s election. First, the whole “it doesn’t matter who you vote for, just be sure you vote” thing is pure crap. Of course it matters who you vote for. If you’re not truly convinced that you would like the person you’re voting for to be president, DON’T VOTE. You’re not fulfilling a “civic duty,” you’re undermining the whole system. Second, the “other” parties (ie. not Democrat or Republican) won’t become more popular until they start winning. So stop whining about how there aren’t any viable third party candidates and vote for them anyway. If enough people think that way, they’ll become viable. But you have to vote first. And to all of you folks who don’t really care but are voting along party lines because of “civic duty,” please just stay home. Please.
